My Journey

When I was a kid, I didn’t dream of becoming a real estate agent let alone a real estate tech trainer. I was just happy playing Frogger on my Tandy and helping my mom program the VCR to record a show she was going to miss.

In college, I worked for a real estate magazine. The digital world was being born and I got to be at the forefront. We were still picking up paper ads and re-shooting photographs on a light table, but things were changing. I learned to use a scanner to digitize pictures for submission to the printer, agents were starting to email their ads and I was loving every single minute. Technology was making our business more efficient.

When I got my real estate license, MLS had just been released as a computer program and Netscape was a popular internet browser. There was no Facebook or Twitter and people still put pen to paper to write contracts. Soon, MLS moved to the internet and agents were scanning and emailing offers back and forth. I loved real estate and I was absorbing anything and everything. Then short sales came and the real estate game changed.

Agents had to change their businesses overnight. Transaction paperwork tripled and the need to access things quickly became a must. At the same time, the company I worked at started a transition to a new digital system. It was my opportunity to learn something new AND teach it to my fellow agents. My office became the “gotta minute?” stop as I stepped into the role of trainer and was dubbed “The Tech Girl.” I worked with every agent to get them up and running on the new platform. I truly enjoyed helping people take the frustration out of learning something new.

A few years later, I decided to make a move to another real estate company. I really wanted to focus on helping people buy and sell homes. That’s what I told myself. It wasn’t long before I learned all the systems at the new place and again started teaching my fellow agents how to use all the things available to them. My broker was so impressed that she asked me to work for her as a full-time time trainer helping her agents build better businesses.

By this time I had experienced real estate from all angles - in the field as an agent and behind the scenes in advertising and as a trainer, facilitator, mentor, and manager.

And then my whole world changed.

I found out I was having a baby and I loved working with *my* agents. Seeing their businesses grow and thrive because of my help with marketing, negotiations, and tech training. It lit me up! But the thought of having an 8 week maternity leave and having to put my new baby in daycare broke my heart. I couldn’t do it, so I needed a way to be a stay at home mom and have a career I loved.

Real Tech Girl was born.

The more fantastic entrepreneurs I work with, the clearer it is that this is what I am meant to be doing. I will be your mentor and motivator because I know where you've been. You deserve to be re-energized and passionate about your business.
